Retail Educator/Sales Associate Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
As the public face of the company, the sales associate is responsible for dealing with and (and all) customer questions about the products and services the company offers. The sales associate is expected to be continuously updating their knowledge of the company products, services, and policies. Complaint handling is a critical part of this position. Turning a frustrated customer into a happy customer, while adhering to company policies, requires a combination of empathy and tact. Another key responsibility is maintaining the presentation of the sales floor, products, signage, and displays.
DUTIES AND REPSONSIBILITIES
Customer Service:
• Greets and interacts with customers in a welcoming manner
• Drives sales through engagement of customers, suggestive selling, and sharing product knowledge
• Consults with customers to understand their needs and preferences related to merchandise
• Demonstrates and explains merchandise, selecting and suggesting options suitable for the customer’s needs
• Directs customers by escorting them to different products, and answers customer’s questions about merchandise. (Merchandise should be discussed inclusive of Delta Variants/ Beauty/Pets line products)
• Assists customers with purchase decisions and offer “in store” consultations as a secondary service
• Ability to anticipate customers’ needs and to recommend products to customers
In-Store Duties:
• Inventory Management includes accepting, entering, and stocking incoming inventory as well as replenishing merchandise to sales floor, maintaining and organizing stock in inventory locations throughout the store.
• Knowledge of current industry standards thru ongoing training of new/existing products. (Via scheduled team meetings /zoom sessions and email updates)
• Create social media content including taking photos and creating videos as per the direction of management
• Produce product samples & prepare customer packets for events
• Process phone orders and prepare for shipping utilizing the “Send-Pro” shipping application. (All shipments will be entered into the Shipping Log)
• Maintenance and operation of Point of Sale (POS) system including, Customer Management Module, Sales tracking, Processes returns and exchanges and customer rewards, through continual training
• Conduct follow up customer calls during each shift for new customers 3 – 7 days after 1st purchase (Keeps existing clientele informed by notifying them of preferred customer sales and future merchandise of potential interest)
• Always maintain a clean and organized sales space/store. (Inclusive of sweeping /light mopping /vacuuming on daily basis)
• Manage printed material inventory levels
• Maintaining and restocking store merchandizers and sample table
• Manager Marketing to customers through email communications.
• Required to “Sign Spin” as requested.
• Responsible for email communications (Email addresses will be assigned)

Events:
• Prepare and pack all inventory and event materials
• Travel to and from local event venues/vendor fairs
• Set up and break down for event
• Efficiently and professionally promote and sale of Summed product line.
• Collect new customer leads
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, printers, phones, filing cabinets. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
• Prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout the retail/events space.
• Must be able to lift up to 15-20 pounds at times.
• Physical requirements that are required (but not limited to): sitting, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a part-time position with flexibility for 15 – 25 hrs per week. Days and hours of work may vary but may include Monday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 7 p.m. and holidays. Note: At this time we are closed on Sunday’s but that is subject to change.
TRAVEL
Will be required to offer coverage and educational services in both White Plains and Wappingers Falls, NY locations.
