Family of Woodstock: Fall Harvest Dinner and Art Auction
Long-time Domestic Violence Advocate Gwen Wright to Be Honored by Family of Woodstock Kingston, N.Y. — Family of Woodstock, Inc., a cornerstone of support services in Ulster County since 1970, will honor longtime domestic violence advocate Gwen Wright at its upcoming Fall Harvest Dinner and Art Auction, set to take place on October 16 at the Diamond Mills Resort in Saugerties.
October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. A survivor herself, Wright began her career as a founding force behind Family’s Domestic Violence Children's Services in the early 1980s. Her journey from local advocate to Executive Director of the New York State Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence has had a lasting impact on statewide policy and survivor support systems. “Gwen was instrumental in launching our domestic violence children’s program,” said Michael Berg, Executive Director of Family of Woodstock. “Her passion and resilience helped us push through resistance and deliver critical services to those in need. We’re proud to have been part of her story.”
To honor Wright’s legacy, Family of Woodstock is introducing the Gwen Wright Domestic Violence Advocacy Leader Award, which will be presented annually to a local leader working to end domestic violence in Ulster County. Wright will be the first recipient of the award. The evening will include a festive happy hour with live music, a gourmet dinner by the acclaimed Diamond Mills culinary team, and a vibrant art auction featuring works by local and female artists.
Proceeds from the event will support the organization’s Domestic Violence Survivor Support Services, which provide safe housing, a shelter, counseling, legal advocacy, and more. “As domestic violence continues to affect families across our region, this event serves as both a celebration and a call to action,” said Berg. “We want survivors to know they are not alone — and that help is always available.”
Tickets and sponsorship opportunities are available now. Tickets are $150 per person or $1,350 for a table of 10. Sponsorships range from $300-$5,000 and vary based on dinner tickets and marketing/pr exposure.
