From metal drinking straws to reusable water bottles, there is a growing market of alternatives to single-use plastics, but are all of these options actually better for the planet?

Join Cal Trumann, one of our SunCommon community organizers, for an entertaining and nuanced look at plastic and plastic alternatives in our lives. We’ll review the science and history of this petroleum-based product, how it became so ubiquitous, and its impact on the environment. We’ll look at those plastic-free products too – are they really helping the environment, or are some of them just fueling more consumption? Let’s find solutions that take the whole planet into account.
