Join us for a 2-evening class to learn the basics of rod building. Instructor Michael Puryear will demonstrate how a set of rod blanks becomes a working rod. Steps include installing the grip and reel seat, and wrapping on the guides and topping it off with the tip-top. This class is a great opportunity for any fisherman who has considered building a custom rod. The techniques learned in this class can be used to build any rod type from fly fishing to spinning rods. This class is part of the introductory woodworking series at the Hudson River Maritime Museum’s Wooden Boat School on the Rondout Creek in Kingston.
