The Inspired Tour - Recreating the 1915 Ride from NYC - San Francisco on harley's by women
Woodstock Harley-Davidson is pleased to welcome Lisa Brouwer and Kris Haase of the Inspired Ride Tour on June 5th from 6pm–8pm. Lisa and Kris are recreating the historic motorcycle ride from New York to San Francisco that was completed by Effie Hotchkiss in 1915. On the first day of the ride the ladies will stop at Woodstock Harley-Davidson to speak about their upcoming journey and their story behind it.
The ladies of the Inspired Ride Tour will begin June 5th in New York City and stop at the Woodstock Harley-Davidson dealership to meet and mingle with staff, HOG members and the public. Lisa will present a short program on their ride and members of the community are encouraged to ride with them to their next leg, which will be to Utica, NY.
These two women riders are retracing the history made in 1915 by Effie Hotchkiss. At a time when women riders were unheard of, Effie Hotchkiss, at just 21 years of age, rode from New York City to San Francisco on a Harley-Davidson® motorcycle. Lisa Brouwer, a motivational speaker, used Effies accomplishment as an example of doing something big in ones life; something over-the-top that could move people in a way nothing else could. During a conversation, a friend pointed out to Lisa that she should complete the same journey herself, so that she could practice what she preaches. "Its easy to talk about doing something big, but its not always so easy to follow through."Lisa said.
