About Us
The Historical Society of Woodstock (HSW) was founded in 1929 by a group of artists, writers, academics, and townspeople. Its 11,000-item archives include 821 works of art documenting the art colony era. Further, its extensive music collection helps document the run-up to the 1969 Woodstock Festival and beyond. These serve as a resource for a wide range of exhibitions on local themes, public programs, lectures, publications, and research projects. The HSW is a volunteer-run, membership-supported 501(c)(3). The HSW welcomes and encourages the donation of appropriate materials.
