Subzero Heroes
The Alzheimer's Association Hudson Valley Chapter is looking for participants and sponsors for its fundraiser, Subzero Heroes set for Saturday, February 13, at Berean Park in Highland. Heroes will take a plunge into icy water to raise money for the Associations many local programs and services. While not everyone may be up to literally jumping into icy water, there are other ways to get involved. Sidekicks, who help heroes with promotion and fundraising and offer support at the event, are also in demand. Businesses can become involved through sponsorships or by encouraging their employees to participate. Money raised by Subzero Heroes fuels the Alzheimers Associations mission-related initiatives of care, support and research. But the event is more than just a fundraiser its also fun. Many heroes and sidekicks don creative costumes, adding to the festive feeling. Subzero Heroes began in February 2010 when 25 people jumped into Freedom Lake in LaGrange while approximately 80 others watched. This years event is expected to draw nearly 1,000 individuals and have extensive media coverage. It is one of the Associations most popular fundraisers and one of its most visible because of the media coverage.
