DESCRIPTION:Indie Pop trio BETTY Concert to benefit United Way of Ulster County's Raising HOPE mentoring program.\n\n\n\nBETTY has been featured on national and international radio\, television   including their iconic theme song for the L Word   and in films\, commercials\, jingles\, web and streaming projects and concert venues across five continents. They have contributed as guest artists to dozens of recordings and compilation albums\, and their soundscapes can be heard in art installations\, like Darren Waterston "Filthy Lucre" at Mass MOCA\, The Smithsonian Institute and upcoming at London's Victoria and Albert Museum. Their Off-Broadway musical\, BETTY RULES\, was a smash hit directed by Michael Greif (Dear Evan Hanson\, Next to Normal\, Rent.)\n\n\n\nLocal trio\, Still\, Shaken\, and Stirred will open for BETTY. Still Shaken and Stirred is trio Carole White\, Fre Atlast\, and Caru Thompson serving up Woodstock Roots music with a twist. Covers and originals with spicy percussion riffs\, from Van Morrisson to Macey Gray\, from Bluesy to World Beat with an occasional ballad in between. This is music to make you feel good.\n\n\n\nRaising HOPE was created in 2007 to help women achieve educational\, entrepreneurial and career goals in order to become financially stable and self-sufficient. Raising HOPE (Help\, Opportunity\, Passion\, Empowerment) is a women's mentoring program was created by United Way to help women develop and achieve educational and career goals. Our experience has proven that having a mentor to guide\, advise\, and encourage is a powerful instrument of change.\n\n\n\nUnited Way of Ulster County believes that it is the right of every individual in our community to have programs and services available to help them achieve their greatest potential. Each year United Way of Ulster County   through its hundreds of local donors and volunteers   raises and allocates funds to support programs that focus on affordable childcare\, housing and emergency assistance\, literacy training\, mental health services\, parent education\, substance abuse prevention\, and vocational training. For the last 69 years\, money raised in our community has stayed here in Ulster County.
