SUMMARY:HRMM Summer Youth Sailing Program
DESCRIPTION:The Hudson River Maritime Museum's Riverport Sailing and Rowing School is pleased to announce four week-long programs of youth sailing. Youth ages nine through eighteen are welcome to sign up for any one (or more) of the four weeks of our 2018 Youth Sailing Program from July 23 through August 17\, 2018. Students do not need to sign up for consecutive weeks. Since each week is catered toward individual students' abilities and experiences\, our U.S. Sailing certified instructors will adapt the program to match the needs of the students in every session.\n\n\n\nStudents will be taught the basics of sailing on a fleet of new eight-foot Optimist Prams built by students at the Riverport Wooden Boat School and on nineteen-foot Lightning sailboats.\n\n\n\nEach day will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will feature a brief period of on-shore instruction\, followed by a morning and afternoon of on-the-water sailing. All students will become familiar with: sailing terms\, sailing theory\, reading the wind and weather\, capsize drills\, knots and line handling\, boat handling\, teamwork\, and will be introduced to racing.\n\n\n\nThe program dates are:\n\nWeek One: July 23-27\, 2018\n\nWeek Two: July 30-August 3\, 2018\n\nWeek Three: August 6-10\, 2018\n\nWeek Four: August 13-17\, 2018\n\n\n\nThe program fees per student for one week are $425.00 for museum members and $495.00 for non-members.
