DESCRIPTION:The Hudson River Maritime Museum has partnered with the sail freight schooner Apollonia to offer unique classes at the Riverport Wooden Boat School while the vessel is at the museum's docks undergoing restoration work for several weeks in May\, 2018. \n\n \n\nWood Finishes: Varnish & Oil\n\n\n\nThis course will discuss the various techniques of wood finishing and will include hands-on experience with varnishing spars for the Apollonia using traditional schooner varnish\, as well as finishing wood blocks by boiling them in linseed oil and oiling mast hoops with rosewood oil.
