SUMMARY:ASK: The Art of Simply Being Human
DESCRIPTION:If someone asked you to describe what it is like to be a human being\, what would you say? As an artist\, I have asked myself this question a lot over the decades. Though I still can't answer this question easily and clearly with words\, I continue to try through my art.\n\nIn this hands-on\, interactive workshop\, you will have an opportunity to explore this question in a positive\, supportive\, creative space. You'll first be introduced to my current creative work   an ever-growing community of humans constructed from recycled wood. You will spend some time with one or two of these simple\, evocative figures that have special meaning to you. Then you will create your own Human using collage as a medium. You will be able to experience the same create process that I do and use the arts to think about and begin to answer this question in your own unique way.\n\nYou don't have to be an artist to participate in this workshop. You just have to be willing to see what happens when you allow yourself to explore and create. This workshop is open to adults\, as well as parents and grandparents with children 8 or older.\n\nWorkshop Facilitator   Terry Murray is an Associate Professor Emeritus in the Humanistic/Multicultural Education Program in the School of Education at SUNY New Paltz. Terry is an artist and long-time mindfulness practitioner. Terry's work is currently being featured in the Spotlight Gallery at the Arts Society of Kingston.
